Broadstone Cornerstar Apartments

Client Need:
The existing slabs were showing shrinkage cracks from a previous installation, therefore the client needed a product that wouldn’t crack, require little maintenance, and add an updated look to the residential complex as well as be weather resistant.

Solution:
Bomanite Toppings Systems, Broadcast Aggregate with Bomanite Florspartic 100 was chosen to replace the flooring on the existing breezeways. This product can be installed in cold temperatures, has a short dry time, high durability, and low maintenance. A great solution for a high-traffic residential complex. The entire courtyard flowed with harmonizing colors and textures inherent in each feature.

Results:
This product had to be installed while tenants were occupying the building, but due to the short dry time it was easier to work around the tenants. This product was an excellent choice because of low maintenance, high durability, high slip-resistance, and a color choice that complimented the exterior finish.

Portola Plaza Hotel

Bomanite Licensed Contractor, Heritage Bomanite, provided a beach boardwalk look to the existing exterior walkways using Bomanite Toppings Restoration System, Thin-Set. A custom boardwalk pattern stamp was created to fit within the existing control joints. Each plank is 6.5” wide.

Bomanite Thin-Set is a specially formulated polymer modified topping mix that will bond to any stable, structurally sound substrate. This unique system allows the installation of a thin, imprinted concrete topping when installed at 3/8” thick and can be feathered to a zero edge.

Bomanite Thin-Set is an extremely effective alternative to the demolition of an existing substrate. This product adheres to most adhesives and coatings, has excellent abrasion resistance and can be trafficked quickly. It is especially beneficial on applications where natural materials are not possible to install due to clearance issues. In remodeling applications, Bomanite Thin-Set transforms badly damaged concrete into beautiful concrete surfaces at a fraction of the cost of removal or replacement of the existing surface. From retail centers to theme parks, restaurants to hotels, commercial offices to residential applications, Bomanite Thin-Set provides a durable flooring option where the look of brick, slate, stone or wood can be achieved and will appear like other Bomanite, Bomacron surfaces.

This easy-to-install system offers numerous design options for vertical and horizontal applications, inside or outside. Over 100 Bomanite or Bomacron patterns can be utilized with this product and Bomanite’s Patène Artectura coloration system can also be incorporated with this process. Available in 60 standard colors, Bomanite Thin-Set can also be created in a wide variety of custom colors.

The University of Alabama at Birmingham Recreation Center

The Campus Recreation Center at the University of Alabama, Birmingham, is designed to serve as a vibrant activity hub for the UAB campus community. The facility is also the cornerstone of a future campus green, complementing the urban university’s commitment to becoming a more traditional, residential campus. The center allows existing programs to grow, while allowing for creation of aquatics, wellness and informal recreation offerings.

Upon entering the center, sightlines allow views into virtually every activity space. The facility boasts 18,000 square feet dedicated to weight training and cardio fitness; a four-court, wood-floor gymnasium; a separate synthetic-floor gymnasium; five racquetball courts (with one convertible to squash); four fitness studios; and an aquatics center with both leisure and lap components. Other amenities include a game room, a child-care area, a juice bar and a wellness suite.

A defining architectural feature of the building is an indoor jogging track that passes through every major activity space. Bomanite Licensee Jeffco Concrete Contractors worked with the architects design to install 12,000 square feet of custom colored Bomanite Micro-Top for the flooring surfaces throughout the Recreation Center. This high-end unique modern day design resulted in Jeffco Concrete winning the 2005 Best Micro-Top Project Gold Award.

ORU-Armand Hammer Alumni Student Center

The new, state-of-the-art Armand Hammer Alumni-Student Center is the first new construction project on campus in 30 years and designed by KSQ Architects, to provide a modern, sleek and youthful structure. The $11 million building encompasses 28,000 square feet and was designed to provide food, fun and fellowship for ORU’s students and alumni. Bomanite of Tulsa provided approx. 16,384 square feet of Bomanite Chemically Stained flooring throughout the building to complement a vibrant, youthful color palette that delineates student activity zones into quiet spaces, pool tables and video game consoles, live performance areas, an Internet café and a 12’ x 21’ screen for viewing concerts, sporting events or video game competitions.

Bomanite of Tulsa completed the project in three phases working around other trades to keep the building of the project moving and on schedule. Several dilutions of Bomanite Chemical Stain were used to achevie the mix of lighter and darker colors and then sealed with an acrylic sealer for protection.
