Summary:
Located in Denver, Colorado, the Enso Zen Apartments (also known as ENSO Zen) recently underwent a sophisticated transformation of its outdoor amenity space. Colorado Hardscapes, a premier Bomanite Licensed Contractor, utilized the Bomanite Exposed Aggregate Systems to install over 3,700 square feet of decorative concrete. By meticulously integrating Bomanite Sandscape® Texture and Bomanite Sandscape Refined, the team created a serene, modern Zen garden that serves as a beautiful and durable retreat for residents.
Navigating the Design Challenge: Precision on a Narrow Deck
Access to amenity decks is rarely ideal, and the ENSO Zen project presented significant logistical difficulties due to an especially narrow layout. Maneuvering heavy equipment and materials in such a confined space required a highly strategic approach to ensure a flawless execution.
To maintain the project’s aesthetically cohesive vision, the installation team took on the complex task of redesigning the jointing layout. This technical adjustment ensured that the linear sawcuts aligned perfectly across the entire area, creating a sense of continuity that is essential for a Zen-inspired environment. This site-specific solution solved the functional challenge of the narrow space while enhancing the overall architectural beauty of the garden.
Artisanal Craftsmanship: The Stainless-Steel Logo Inlay
A defining feature of this commissioned installation is the stainless-steel inlay of the apartment logo. Serving as a high-end centerpiece, the logo was meticulously integrated into the decorative concrete, requiring precise coordination and timing by an experienced team.
The successful placement of this unique element underscores the artistry and attention to detail provided by the Bomanite Licensed Contractor network. It acts as a tactile anchor within the serene garden, blending industrial precision with the natural, sand-washed texture of the surrounding concrete.
Collaborative Design: From Mockup to Masterpiece
The custom-engineered look of the Enso Zen garden was directly influenced by the developer, Weins Development Group. By utilizing Bomanite Design Center mockups, the developer was able to select specific artisanal finishes that met their exact aesthetic goals.
The final design features:
- 1,602 Square Feet of Bomanite Sandscape Refined in the modern dark color “Bomanite Black Diamond”.
- 2,167 Square Feet of Bomanite Sandscape Texture in the classic “Bomanite Capitol Hill” finish.
These selections allowed the Zen garden to be thoughtfully divided into three distinct spaces, creating a one-of-a-kind outdoor ambiance that complements the complex’s modern architecture.
The Advantages of Bomanite Sandscape® Texture and Bomanite Sandscape Refined
The Bomanite Sandscape® systems offer a unique Bomanite Distinction by providing a monolithic, sand-washed appearance that traditional concrete cannot replicate. Bomanite Sandscape® Texture is specifically engineered for durability and slip resistance, making it ideal for high-traffic public areas that require a natural, tactile feel. For a more sophisticated look, Bomanite Sandscape Refined utilizes specialized aggregates and a finer exposure process to achieve an eye-catching, elegant finish that is both low-maintenance and highly resistant to wear. Together, these systems provide a high long-term ROI for property owners by combining structural integrity with timeless architectural design.
