Residential homeowner, Vince Ginn contacted Bomanite Licensed Contractor, Concrete Arts to get ideas for his patio and sidewalk in Hudson, WI. He visited their showroom and immediately fell in love with a pebbled stream that flows through their parking lot. Tom Graf, owner of Concrete Arts worked with the client to create a custom look using pebbles at the entrance of his home. To compliment the pebbles, a Bomanite Exposed Aggregate look was used, Revealed by Bomanite.
No color was added to the Sidewalk and Patio finish. Just a white base cement with a Salt and Pepper aggregate was used. Tom suggested keeping the River view side of the home a simple revealed look while creating a “wow” factor to the road side. They decided to integrate Mexican Beach Pebbles in a diamond shape.
Concrete Arts poured the front walk way. To get the diamond shape they cut the specific dimensions into a piece of plywood and marked out the areas with a string line. Next, they hand placed the pebbles into the concrete following the marked areas. To press in the pebbles, they used the plywood to step down on the rocks to the desired depth, creating a unique entrance into the clients home.
Spire Lofts combine modern design with LEED certified elements that provide style and eco-friendly residences. Amenities include multiple swimming pools, a multi-media theater and elevated dog park, ground level retail, restaurants and coffee shops.
Client Need:
The Spire, a 42-story glass residential tower in the heart of downtown Denver, wanted to upgrade its 9th floor public space, patio, and amenities deck. They were looking for an updated and inviting statement. While looking at the paving options at the Colorado Hardscapes Concrete Design Center, the owners came across a sample that was just what they were looking for.
Solution:
For the bulk of the paving, 11,000 sq. ft. of patios and public space, they chose a Sandstone integral color broom finish. This offered the inviting element they were looking for.
Results:
The 700 sq. ft. amenities deck took on a more eclectic and upbeat look with a Bright White Bomanite Revealed base embedded with white and crystal rock. A floating walkway, comprised of sixty-five 2’ x 2’ stepping stones, completed the new look.
Bomanite of Tulsa, Inc. worked with Alaback Design Associates to specify Bomanite Revealed Exposed Aggregate System to produce a slip resistant surface for a splash pad on the City of Tulsa, Parks Department project Manion Park.
Manion Park Splash pad used recycled glass as the aggregate to produce the vibrant paving option that offered excellent slip resistance for kids on the playground. Saw-cuts where placed between colors to produce a clean break point for each color on the 2,800 SF splash pad.

Concrete paving is very prominent on this project, and the designers needed to be sure that the finished product met all of their specifications for the high profile center of the Stapleton Redevelopment. The hardscapes needed to integrate with real stone in the city center and lend consistency and beauty to the rest of the walkways, patios and plazas along the street.
Solution:
Bomanite Licensed Contractor, Colorado Hardscapes, walked the property and worked closely with designers to determine their needs. With the Sandscape Texture® by Bomanite system and the superior craftsmenship of Colorado Hardscapes, the team was able to install the job to the quality necessary of the project.
Results:
Colorado Hardscapes worked with both Mortenson and Saunders on different sections around the Stapleton Town Center, including paving for patios and sidewalks along 29th Ave. Black banding and special “V” saw-cuts distinguish special areas along 29th Ave. Near the water features at the town center real stones were integrated into theBomanite Sandscape Texture around the perimeter. The Visitors Center features a multi-colored Bomanite Micro-Top interior floor.

Designers were looking for a paving material with the right texture for their vision of this plaza.
Solution:
Bomanite Licensee Colorado Hardscapes showed the designers the exclusive Bomanite Exposed Aggregate System, Sandscape Texture® by Bomanite paving installed nearby on the NCSL building and they were sold. Although the colors and patterns are quite different, the finish lends a nice texture to many design styles.
Results:
This plaza proves how concrete can take any shape. The dramatic lines of the design are enhanced by elegant, crisp Sandscape Texture paving with stained bands. Seat walls along the structure complete the look.

Client Need:
A distinctive paving was needed for the entry and front patio of the NCSL headquarters in the Lowry Redevelopment. Natural stone carved with state names needed to be integrated into the paving material at the front.
Solution:
Bomanite Licensed Contractor Colorado Hardscapes, Inc.’s integral color concrete with the exclusive Sandscape Texture® by Bomanite finish results in the distinct look. Natural stone is skillfully integrated into the concrete.
Results:
Colorado Hardscapes, Inc. (CHI) created the entrance, a conference patio, drop off zone, outdoor patio break area, and a section under a revolving door for the NCSL buildings. Sandscape Texture® by Bomanite finished concrete, poured 4 inches thick, was used. Sections were integrally colored with a variety of custom shades with standard gray interspersed at the entrance to the building. The sawcuts further distinguish the different colors and flush out the pattern. Forty-eight linear feet of six inch planter curb was used and rounded seat wall surround the rounded sections of concrete and line the grill area on one side of the building.

The designer of Belmar wanted to create a subtle but very specific look for the paving around the retail development that would enhance the architecture and give a sense of continuity to all of the city blocks involved.
Solution:
Bomanite Licensed Contractor Colorado Hardscapes, Inc. not only had the project management capabilities for this massive project, but the craftsmanship to create the paving details inherent in the design.
Results:
Sandscape Texture® by Bomanite finished concrete paving creates the walkways, plazas, and some of the medians throughout the Belmar development. (The curb and gutter work is by others.) The “V” cuts in the concrete mirror the architecture of the buildings.
PROJECT SPECIFICATIONS/INFORMATION
Description:
The Manhattan Construction Company approached Bomanite Licensed Contractor, North Texas Bomanite, for assistance with developing the decorative pavement around the Dallas Cowboys Stadium in the late summer of 2008. Several attempts had been made by the Manhattan staff as well as other concrete contractors in the Dallas marketplace to achieve the finish desired by the architect with limited success. Once North Texas Bomanite and The Bomanite Company staff had the opportunity to view the color and aggregate selection, as well as the previously attempted series of mockups, they were able to make some recommendations in terms of aggregate selection, mix design and application procedures that would achieve a balance between the desired look and the aggressive construction schedule. After several more mockups utilizing the original processes and the revised process as proposed by Bomanite and executed by North Texas Bomanite, a modified version of the Sandscape Texture® by Bomanite process was approved and the contract for the 516,911 foot exterior concrete paving was awarded to North Texas Bomanite.
The modified Sandscape Texture® by Bomanite portion of the project utilized a dark gray to black Basalt aggregate in the mix. Additional aggregate of the same type and size was seeded on top of the concrete to improve aggregate distribution. The Basalt was selected due to its availability in the marketplace as well as its color and properties. Unlike a limestone or marble aggregate, Basalt is a hard, abrasive resistant aggregate that is not subject to degradation due to acid exposure. This made it ideal for a highly trafficked area such as around the stadium.
The balance of the project was broom finished with areas of both un-colored and light gray colored concrete. The jointing was done using diamond equipped saws with the pattern playing off the radius of the stadium. Block outs following the jointing pattern were provided for trees and other landscaping with recessed areas provided for pavers. The entire hardscape package was completed in five months with as many as 20,000 feet of decorative concrete being poured per day to stay on schedule. The Dallas Cowboys Stadium in Arlington TX is yet another high profile project successfully constructed by a Bomanite licensed contractor.
The Tuscany Plaza, located in Englewood, Colorado is a commercial building that received an updated hardscape to match its Class A status. When the Lowe Enterprises representative went to the Colorado Hardscapes’ Design Center to check out paving options for the Tuscany Plaza, he thought he was engaging in an effort of futility. How could any concrete product meet Lowes high standards and expectations?
However, after exploring the possibilities Bomanite Licensed Contractor Colorado Hardscapes had to offer, the Lowes representative was ready to recommend concrete as a replacement for tile in the atrium and walkways. The decorative concrete finish that was decided on pushed the limits of what the experts at Colorado Hardscapes had done before. It turned out to be their first project in Denver that used a lighter-than-gray integral color with the Sandscape Texture system, without using white cement. The white Lithocrete bands and the 7’ o.c.e.w. scoring required extensive forming and long straight lines. All of the concrete was installed over waterproof membrane and/ or structural concrete. Both the expansion and v-cut joints required caulking. All requiring the expertise of installation and quality craftsmanship that Colorado Hardscapes provided while meeting the first-class expectations for the paving at Tuscany Plaza.

Description:
Planning for the landscape and pool project at this Castle Pines residence included early meetings at Bomanite Licensed Contractor, Colorado Hardscapes’ Design Center with Courtney McRickard, the landscape designer. Colors, textures, and different applications were discussed, sampled, reviewed all the while keeping the costs of each option in tune with the overall budget.
Final selections included the use of natural stone paving and cast-in-place concrete – both vertical and horizontal. Landscape walls, pool coping, cast-in-place patio stones, and the fireplace hearth all were placed with a Sandscape Texture ® finish, utilizing a specialty integral color, a light buff color, achieved by utilizing titanium dioxide in the concrete mix.
The fireplace hearth was finished by grinding and polishing the concrete to a glass-like finish, making a very smooth hearth and/or bench.
The patio area with the cast-in-place patio stones of varying sizes was cast on a level plane with a sub-surface drainage system designed to quickly move any water away from the house and its foundation. Small Mexican beach pebbles filled the gaps between the patio sections.
The colors and textures of the concrete worked well with both the hard and soft surfaces of the overall landscape theme to create an outstanding project.
