The 11-acre, award winning, Centennial Center Park provides a variety of features and amenities for the community’s use. Designed for year-round family-friendly enjoyment, Centennial Center Park includes a large, covered shelter with gas fireplace and a smaller, more intimate coffee shelter for smaller gatherings.
Children of all ages will find hours of fun on one of three climbing walls, two expansive, age-appropriate play areas and the Nautilus water play area in the center of the Park. Ideally situated on a slight bluff adjacent to Centennial Civic Center, Centennial Center Park also features “butte” and “meadow” nature areas, three decorative water fountains and a two-story covered shelter to overlook the plaza or enjoy a spectacular Centennial sunset.
The Park’s unique design is intended to convey the passage of time, this concept is articulated through the integration of arches, spirals and curves into the park’s structures and many unique features. The Nautilus shape formed by the central playground complex is a prominent example of this theme.
The Park features various historical and educational elements as well. The main plaza showcases the historical timeline of the Cherry Creek Basin, including fun facts and a map of the Cherry Creek Watershed. The amphitheater’s design incorporates elements that represent the four periods of human history: Lithic, Archaic, Formative, and Classic. The “Colorado Statehood Walk” displays interesting facts about Colorado, while the “Viewfinder Walk” is an interactive trivia challenge that takes visitors on a quest throughout the Park– highlighting unique points of interests both inside and outside of the Park. Not just a place to play, but also a place to learn, Centennial Center Park is a treasure-trove of history and trivia.
Bomanite Imprint Licensee, Stephens and Smith Construction worked with the homeowner to select the overall design, patterns and colors for their patio and pool deck renovation. The homeowners existing concrete and stoops had a spray texture overlay and stenciled brick borders in a pinwheel design. The owners had seen stamped concrete and were interested in changing their deck and giving it a fresh new look.
Stephens and Smith demo’d the existing deck and was able to dispose of all the rubble on site, saving the homeowner in disposal fees. The demo did take a few extra days due to the uneven real brick that was discovered under the overlay. Once all was removed, Stephens and Smith was able to regrade and place the concrete in four pours that had to be transported 160’ to 200’ due to the length of the driveway and expansive 20 acre lot. The concrete was stamped with a Slate Texture and 8” Brick Border for an updated clean and inviting backyard space.

Bulach Custom Rock worked with the owners to choose the best finish for their pool deck and backyard patio area. The residential project consisted of a pool deck, gazebo pad multiple patio areas and a large set of steps formed in the hill, with a slight curve leading down to the pool deck that received a bull nose finish.
Over 2,400 square feet of Sand and Desert Tan Bomanite Color Hardener and a Bomacron Slate Texture were installed to provide durability, excellent wear resistance and fade resistance. Bomanite Color Hardener is the most effective coloring method to achieve your desired results in the installation of Bomanite and Bomacron Imprinted concrete surfaces.

The Owners of this private residence worked with Bomanite Licensee, Bulach Custom Rock on a custom design for their driveway. The driveway was poured with a Bomanite Integral color of French Gray. Bulach Custom Rock then threw Bomanite Natural Gray Color Hardener on the body of the driveway, which was stamped with the Bomacron Slate Texture. Bomanite Cobblestone Gray was used for the colored bands that were installed around the perimeter of the drive as well as across the drive at the halfway mark.
At the top of the driveway, a curved border was placed to give the landing area a patio feel. This portion was stamped with the Bomacron Ashlar Slate pattern, using the French Gray Bomanite Integral Color, and finished off with a multi-color seal for each individual block within the Ashlar Slate pattern.

The homeowners of a private residence in Sandy, Utah worked with Bomanite Licensee, Architectural Concrete & Design for their backyard pool and patio hardscape. This outdoor area has a pool deck, waterfall feature, fire pit, several patio spaces and stairs that received a cohesive decorative concrete design using the Bomanite Imprint System with several standout coloring techniques.
The pool deck and upper patio were poured and the concrete colored with Bomanite Coquina Color Hardener and then a sweat textured finish was applied. Once the color hardened concrete was cured, multiple coats of Bomanite Chemical Stain in Pine and Ebony were applied and then to create the grid design, sawcuts were made in a 4′ 6″ pattern. The pool coping and waterfall feature were stained to compliment the rock surround on the waterfall.
The lower patio deck, stairs and fire pit were stamped with the Bomacron Slate Texture mat to provide a simple separation but collective design with the pool deck area. Bomanite Desert Tan Color Hardener and several Bomanite Release Agents in Autumn Brown, Light Brown and Mexican Tile were applied.
The homeowners were thrilled with the overall Bomanite backyard design and how it complimented and integrated with the landscaping of rock walls, creek beds and walking paths.

The Florida Turnpike Service Plaza Project, a multiyear renovation program, directed by Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise, consisted of decorative concrete installations that included walkway and plaza areas outside service station and restaurant facilities that started with the original 1950’s Turnpike stations; Turkey Lake, Canoe Creek, Fort Drum, West Palm Beach and finally Pompano Beach. Bomanite Licensee, Edwards Concrete placed and finished imprinted concrete at the plazas, applied a variety of colors, and in some cases seeded recycled, colored glass into landscape borders. It was a major transformation in that the old concrete at the service plazas had been plain gray.
The turnpike, one of the busiest highways in the nation, is formally named the Ronald Reagan Turnpike. Brett Nein, manager of landscape architecture for Jacobs Engineering Group, Inc. that provided design services for the service-plaza projects noted that the existing service plazas didn’t meet the standards of the traveling public of the 21st Century. Three primary design themes were created to connect all of the facilities; water, sun and earth (or land). From these themes, the designers and Edwards Concrete interpreted the conceptual vision of the architectural firm directing the total project, Zyscovich, using concrete colors and decorative patterns for the hardscape materials.

Greenway Station, built in 2003 is an open-air shopping center designed as a pedestrian friendly environment with convenient store front parking. With its attention to architectural details and landscaping the upscale, open-air lifestyle center includes strolling walkways, extensive gardens, a spacious courtyard and a 60-foot clock tower. The brick pavers installed originally throughout the shopping center were failing badly and the Greenway staff contacted Bomanite Licensee, Bastian Concrete Construction for a solution. Working together Greenway appointed Bastian Concrete as the preferred contractor for installing only Bomanite Systems and products.
All of the work needed to be done while the stores remained open, which meant different projects, areas for renovation were done at odd hours to make it all come together. Bastian Concrete removed and hauled away all the pavers and base; all the used brick pavers were given to the local stone quarry for resale/recycling. Bastian Concrete then reset the base, took care of many drainage problems in the regrading and repoured the sections with Bomacron stampings. Several imprint patterns; Running Bond Used Brick, Herringbone Used Brick and Soldier Course Used Brick were chosen for the shopping center and paver replacement project to compliment the original design and upscale outdoor shopping experience.

The NE 36th Street Bridge earned Bomanite Licensee, Belarde Co. Inc. a 2012 Decorative Concrete Award from the American Society for Concrete Contractors’ Decorative Concrete Council in the category of Artistry, Over 5,000 Sq.Ft. Upon entering or exiting the bridge, drivers navigate around a custom-colored, Bomanite stamped concrete roundabout that directs the flow of traffic. Alongside the roadways, pebble-studded concrete paths, a curving, sloping wall, complete the look of a river bank.
“The concrete elements of this are so unique,” says John Belarde, president of Belarde Co. Their success in pulling it off, he says, was partly thanks to their skills as a company and partly thanks to the clarity and specificity of the design concept.
Tanja Wilcox, senior associate at Seattle architecture firm J.A. Brennan Associates and aesthetic designer for the project, had her work cut out for her when developing a design concept for the bridge. Although the client was the city of Redmond, a lot of the money for the project was funded by Microsoft Corp. — because their main corporate campus sits on both sides of the 520. The overall objective, says Wilcox, was to transform the overpass into an enjoyable environment for drivers, cyclists and pedestrians. But the bridge also had to celebrate Redmond as a city, while giving a nod to its patron and beneficiary, Microsoft.
Wilcox and her team conceived a design that evokes the Sammamish River, that winds through the heart of Redmond, just north of the bridge site. By incorporating native plants and materials as well as subtle river motifs, like that of the Bomacron Creek Stone pattern, the design expresses Redmond’s beautiful natural surroundings.

The events center is the third major project Bomanite Licensee, Colorado Hardscapes, has completed with Bomanite Systems at The Broadmoor Hotel.
For the events center the general contractor needed an 8200 sq. ft. entry for the new conference center that welcomed guests creating an experience of style and glamour even before setting foot into the building. The true stand outs on this project are the Silicon Carbide fines in the color hardener which give a shimmering effect when the sun hits the Bomanite Texture just right. Unfortunately the sea of sparkles is mostly visible to the human eye and not in photographs.The Heavy Slate Texture was given a decorative feel with 6’ o.c. sawcuts throughout.

Bomanite Licensee, Shepherd’s Construction Company, Inc. had the opportunity to work with the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis to create realistic flooring for Seti l’s Tomb. The Dried Earth Texture was created so as to replicate an old mud or earthen sandstone to be used throughout the passageways and burial chamber of the exhibit. 2,000 square feet of the Bomacron Dried Earth texture was installed along with another 4,500 square feet of the Bomacron Coquina Texture, Bomacron San Ysidro Brick, Bomanite Florspartic 100 and Bomanite Custom Polishing Systems.
The largest children’s museum in the world opened the 7,400 square-foot exhibit – National Geographic Treasures of the Earth – in June 2011. This permanent exhibit features three archaeological discoveries in the world and offers visitors the chance to explore the history and arts of ancient Egypt and China as well as the general science of archaeology.
Teams of museum staff members and National Geographic Society experts explored the tomb of ancient Egyptian pharaoh Seti l with famed Egyptologist Dr. Zahi Hawass and worked with Egypt’s Supreme Council of Antiquities to create a one of a kind real life experience. In the museum’s new Archaeology Lab, visitors use real science to examine
a CT scan of Seti I’s mummy (the only replica of Seti I’s mummy). A sound and light show helps families work together to interpret the tomb’s hieroglyphs, see real artifacts from the time of Seti I, and reassemble a recreation of the pharaoh’s broken sarcophagus lid.
“This exhibit is a learning experience for all visitors,” said Jeffrey H.
